It is not often that Genshin Impact's writing goes slightly above mediocrity, but this is one of those times.
Some of the character stories are good, but the main plot was overall kind of "meh", but this one was different.

For their sins, a people were cursed by the angel of death to wander as a tormented immortals for all time.
Centuries later a demi-goddess borrows the power of death from the same angel to save her nation, in return for the ultimate price.
One cursed immortal discovers a loop whole, and substitutes himself as the sacrifice, forcing the angel of death to chose: Lift the curse and break its word, or yield some of its power, changing the rules of life and death for an entire nation.
