The implication of the setup is that the pondering of ass takes much of our time and effort, a special table made specifically for this purpose.
Said ass seems disinterested with anything, as women often are.
It is a false light, like Plato's cave.
Most of this, as is often the case, unintentional.
The artists probably thought: "Replace orb with goblin ass, funny, ha ha!"
But this is actually brilliant.
