@maxmustermann Because the premise makes for easier writing.

Self insert loser protagonist gains unfair advantage right off the bat, wish fulfillment for many NEETs.

Many aspects are borrowed from Japanese RPGs, reducing the amount of explaining needed.

World building is easier, as characters spout exposition at the audience under the guise of explaining things to the protagonist.
Something totally illegitimate to do if all the characters are supposed to be familiar with the world.
If it wasn't an Isekai, you would have to "show, don't tell", but that's harder to pull off.

It's a lazy genre.

The Isekai genre had reached the point of self parody. It had already experienced its own deconstruction with Re:zero. Why won't it just skedaddle?

This is totally a thing, girls absolutely loathe a short girl who "has the skinny genes". They just assume a 4'8" chick has to be packing down 6,500 cal/day like they are and she merely won the birth lottery to be skinny forever.....no idea of how much discipline and work it takes to NOT be a fat pig

"Discord CEO is in court"

What a surprise...

"Taylor Swift is so iconic because she perfectly vocalizes the inner life of women. I don't know if there's any equivalent for men."

"Why do you hate women?"

"To answer that, we have to go back to the first days of man. You see, when God created Adam he also created his first wife, Lilith..."
