I think it was a gradual process, it's not an overnight thing. But this right here, this "Desmond" kid I think this was an anchor point.
There was kind of a viral video of him twerking in the street, I can't find it but I don't want to look to hard because I don't want that shit in my search history. Anyway, I think a lot of us saw that and had an immediate reaction, an immediate realization that blood was going to spill.

Finally saw Smiling friends. Pretty good stuff, reminds me of RGC comics in a way.
Kinda has a hellish anxiety inducing element to it. Like, I hear ppl sometimes talk about their "comfort shows" that they watch to relax, even though they've seen it before a million times before. I'd call this a "discomfort show". It very deliberately ratchet ups the tension and fills you with a general sense of unease. A lot of sudden jump scares, unhinged discordant animation and art style.
This might sound like I'm saying it's bad, but I actually enjoyed it. Really funny.
