A different thing I noticed was when playing on my Minecraft map and going from one base to another to carry out a specific task... and when I reach there I forgot what I was going there for.
There's this thing where the brain stores information based on context, tested on people by having them perform a task in the same room the task is given, vs the test group having to change rooms to reach the place where they perform the task. The test group tends to forget the task more than the control group by the time they get there because the brain keeps the information tied to the initial room. Some reduce it to "archways make you forget" and retracing your steps makes you remember again. It works.
But to find that it was happening in a virtual world, while I'm sitting at the computer... 🫣
The brain adapts in real time, I suppose.
