Mexican (latinoamerican) version of eBay (Mercadolibre) is asking me for my personal id just to enter to my years old account.

Guess they don't need another customer.

@hideki We need laws to push back against all these companies thinking that they are entitled to all our personal information at this point.

@deadheat i mean, there's a lot of brick and mortar business that ask for this kind of stuff when you do things like opening a credit with them or something like that, but not for literally wanting to buy something, that's something shady as fuck and is not like they are the only ones i can buy from.

@hideki @deadheat ANY. and I mean ANY. website that asks for id I close that moment.

@hideki When you signed up with them they didn't ask for it, giving your id wasn't in the terms you agreed to when you started using their service, this is actually a form of disrespect and even abusive behavior with the customer.

For sure, but a local store having your information is very different from a big company of online services on the internet getting it. Not only you can't actually visit the online store in person and meet the people who have your information, but on the internet you also have a massive market of personal information and people getting tracked for their cell phone and computer habits all the time.
