@matrix :gargamel: finally exposed blocks? Good for him. This idea that knowing you're blocked somehow feeds harassment is pretty absurd. Sure, there will be a few cases as with anything but I don't recall seeing anyone here going out of their way to continue harassing a person by making a ton of socks. That's just too much energy for a boring drama with somebody that doesn't matter. Who wants to waste their time with that?

@dude @matrix I'm in favor of the idea the blocked people should not know they are blocked, the AP standard says that a blocked activity should not be send to the actor being blocked. Federated blocks were a Gargron invention, and he's just trying to fix the problems that came with them

@dirb for me it's a pain in the ass. Recall I used to drive a GS instance. When I run into that I'm caught between blocked or broken.
Blocking has it's uses for a number of people even if we don't use it ourselves. @matrix

@dirb thus it's a choice in Pleroma. Since I choose to I would at least like to know. You choose not to so it doesn't matter to you. One choice shouldn't overrule the other :) @matrix

you can still turn off federated blocks in pleroma config, they have been there for a long time, just have been switched on by default relatively recently

@waifu @matrix I occasionally talk crap about Gargron when he does something bad or deserves it but it's typically ok because I know he mutes my instance and I don't really mean him any harm.

However, he gets 10000x more shit from his own users on github than he ever does from normal people like us
