@matrix he's right that atheism isn't politically neutral though.
@matrix @moonman because belief in supernatural and political inclinations exist on different planes
@matrix concepts that people adhere to are socially constructed and have a history of its formation and execution, and a population of adherents.

caveman who has never heard of God and is de-facto atheist is a different scenario from atheism in the first world that has been reified into a political position and a movement.
@moonman @matrix I guess it's harder to grasp when in Czechland being a boring atheist is the default
@waifu @moonman @matrix eh, i wonder how many of them would describe themselves as an atheist though, identifying yourself as an atheist means you declare "i think there is no god"

over here i think most people would just be like "idk man"
@karen @matrix @moonman it's also ironically not as much of a belief as it is a result of political development
@waifu @matrix boring is the important part, in the USSR atheism was built into the ideology and had all kinds of consequences.
@moonman @matrix @waifu especially after 68 comrades tried pretty hard to make things as much like russia as possible

@karen @waifu @moonman
I don't buy that the USSR is the cause of Czech atheism, because other part of the Soviet block didn't become atheist. We're the only one.

@matrix @moonman @waifu @karen Czechia had a history of breaking away from established religions. Look up Jan Hus.
@moonman @waifu @matrix atheism wasn't exactly built into ideology, it was mostly like "lol popes are useless" and "lol temples make a good storage space", they mostly separated church from government at first.

they did however do some laws and reforms about abolishing religion. Given that after the fall of USSR church basically restored its status immediately and what people thought of it, atheism wasn't completely abolished.
@moonman @matrix I'd split first world into America and pretty much the rest. American religiosity is seen as a pretty laughable thing in yurop (not judging, just describing) and American atheists are believers in 'no-god'

@hj@shigusegubu.club @lain@pleroma.soykaf.com @moonman@shitposter.club @matrix@gameliberty.club anarchism and revolutionary socialism cant exist without god tbh, its the cause of the failing of the ussr and the modern us left

@a7 @moonman @matrix @lain now listen here you lil shit, USSR mostly fell because by 1991, country had some intense nationalistic conflicts especially in south, and kremlin couldn't really do much about it, especally since system was designed in the whole "chain of command" style so that smaller subjects can't do much on their own without a command from up above, not to mention huge problems back in moscow, where russia which basically wasn't a separate subject, wanted to be a separate subject and to have its own leader, while leaders of USSR didn't like the idea, and to add to the list of problems the whole "glasnost" seriously backfired for the power. We also have to say thanks to stalin for liking russia and russians so much, he basically destroyed the whole idea of USSR, with "we have all these nations and we're together" replaced by "russians are great but others are cool too" and other weird shit. And don't forget that ussr leaders failed so much they basically tried to make an unlawful coup attempt, like "well tovarish gorbachev is sick and situation is shit so we'll just assume power and lockdown everything, our monarchy now". No fucking wonder it went down.

@hj@shigusegubu.club @moonman@shitposter.club @matrix@gameliberty.club @lain@pleroma.soykaf.com kronstadt, if they just listened to those sailors complaints and reinstituted re-elections in the cossacks none of that would of happen

@a7 @moonman @matrix @lain national conflicts were happening all over the massive country, people weren't exactly happy about their life, glasnost made information more clear inside the country, kremlin seriously didn't know how to handle this mess, and when they tried to handle it the 1930 style, their fucking military turned on them.
@lain @matrix American atheism has been described as a phase of American Christianity, and I agree.
@moonman @lain @matrix Have you ever read the comments of your average american redditor? Their "atheism" is a strict leftist orthodoxy.
@moonman @lain @matrix And all of their humor is pure cringe bordering on boomer tier. I try to avoid going there whenever possible.
@adrint @moonman @lain @matrix Atheism at its core is just not believing in God/Gods, the implications of that are what you make of it. The Fedorafags and the Atheism+ subhumans don't aren't any more atheist/"better" atheists than a far-right nonbeliever like myself, they've just tacked on a lot of stupid, unnecessary shit onto their nonbelief, effectively turning their atheism into a replacement for religion.

@ChristiJunior@freespeechextremist.com @adrint@shitposter.club @moonman@shitposter.club @lain@pleroma.soykaf.com @matrix@gameliberty.club a lack of a belief in higher power makes you unfit to be human, humans are so internally dishonest they cant exist with out it

@a7 @adrint @moonman @matrix @lain Replace "higher power" with "something bigger than yourself" and I'd think your point would be a lot stronger.

@ChristiJunior@freespeechextremist.com @adrint@shitposter.club @moonman@shitposter.club @matrix@gameliberty.club @lain@pleroma.soykaf.com even those that are in the esoteric wing of something bigger than themselves just do modified kabbalah with a black flag slapped on it and imagine themselves as reality.

@ChristiJunior @lain @matrix @moonman If you reject special creation classical liberalism is in big trouble.

If you don't believe in the soul the magic brain theory - the blank and equal slate - does not work.

As mainstream an evolutionist as Steven Pinker has to admit as much in The Language Instinct. All of the logical implications of evolution are so right wing that I expect the Washington Post to start running pro-creationist stories any day now.
@ChristiJunior @adrint @lain @matrix @moonman Egalitarianism is magical thinking as great as any religious belief, and in many cases greater. It's one thing to believe in what you can't see, it's quite another to believe in what's visibly false.
@ArdanianRight @adrint @lain @matrix @moonman The current year gender ideology (men and women are identical and interchangeable, self-identity trumps biology with regards to gender etc) is far more retarded than Creationism. At least none of us were around when life on earth began, while anyone with a pair of eyes and a modicum of life experience can tell that the gender ideology is built on obvious falsehoods.
@matrix @moonman As moon said, 'murican atheism is a religion unto itself, and one generally followed by anti-traditional individuals. It's not so much about not believing in god as it is about opposing the church, so they're definitely politically aligned.
