We don't do letters where I live. We do numbers, from 1 to 10. Although the actual minimum tends to be 2. You need overall over 5 to graduate school. If you have 3 subjects under 5 you repeat the year. If you have 1 or 2 under 5, you have to pass an exam on that subject. If you fail, you repeat the year.

@alyx @Pedophile @matrix yeah so I guess the yuros pretty much do it all in a same style. But for some reason it's harder to graduate in bavaria than the rest of germany. Uuuh maybe that goes for individual coutnries too

After 4 years of high school you have another exam, that together with your grades from those years, and an exam organized by the university of your choice, decide if you get into that university or not. If you apply to multiple universities, you get to take multiple exams. There are a few universities that don't require an exam, but those aren't usually the best or most prestigious.

I mean... most good unis are state funded, and if you have a high enough admission grade, you do get free uni. But if your grades fall way down during uni, or if they were too low to begin with, you pay. It's not that much compared to USA, maybe about $1000 a year, but can still be expensive for some.

@alyx @Pedophile@neckbeard.xyz @igeljaeger Here you only pay for the sign up and it's like 30⬠and do exams or some other stuff depending on the uni. Or you can be accepted without the exams based on different things, again depending on the uni. It's usually IQ, different types of exams, marks in high school or marks in high school finals etc.
I got accepted without the exams, because of IQ to 1 school and because of different exam to my uni.

@matrix @alyx @Pedophile according to some german articles I found around 80% of graduates in germany want to go to uni lol. It's mostly just a side affect of "oh shit I dont know what I wanna do cuz work sucks"

@grips @Pedophile @alyx @matrix well thats why I quit after one semester and looked for an ausbildung instead. But I have people who started theirs in my company who are in their mid 20s and will be done when theyre almost 30
@grips @Pedophile @alyx @matrix I worded that weird. I meant: they started uni around 28, 19, 20. Went to uni for years. And then failed in some way or dropped out instead of quitting. Im glad that shit didnt happened to me

I think I got at least 3 diplomas from high school. 1 for finishing 10th grade, because when I finished, we were "obligated" by law to finish at least 10 years of school. But no employer gives a crap about it, so useless. A second diploma for finishing high school, which again no employer actually cares about. And then you do an exam after high school ends, and you get a 3rd diploma for passing that. And that's what we use as an equivalent of "high school diploma".
Oh, and did I mention you need this diploma in original or an authenticated copy to even sign up for an uni? And the uni gets to keep that thing until the day you finish university.
