@matrix My phone just got Android P and trying to get into recovery to re-apply root wiped the whole phone!
I tried Lineage but you loose so many features that I went back to the stock P, added root and per-ordered from the next batch of Purism 5 phones in anger. I'd rather write my own OSS apps to do the things I need that keep supporting this Android BS
Also, this will most likely be the last (also first) Razor product I ever purchase

I don't have my phone rooted, because I don't need it, but I looked into it and it's a pain in the ass and it breaks the camera. The purism phone sounds cool, but I can't get myself to fork over that much money for a promise of a low spec phone.
I kinda want to buy the Razer Phone 2 since it came down in price, but I'm not sure if it's worth it since it's already a year old.
@matrix That's all fair. I really like DNS level ad-blocking. That's my big reason for rooting; and just being able to get to underlying system stuff when I need it.
Purism is really about wanting to work on Linux Mobile .. it is overpriced for the specs. I'm also hopeful about the Pine Phone. That might be a better alternative. I wanted to try out Plasma Mobile, but their only supported devices are old Nexus 5X phones. I tried ordering new old stock from eBay, but the order got canceled.
