pol, thinking

The free market is good for non-essential things. If you have an economy in a video game, the free market will effectively lower prices. If you have the free market for entertainment, the market will produce highly entertaining things for lower prices. etc

However, a completely free market will never survive because there is an existential factor: death. If you have to work, or die, you don't have a choice - allowing corporations to consolidate power.

Having necessities such as food, water, shelter, and decent healthcare covered by the government, a truly free market could still exist, and in fact be more successful than an unregulated free market.

cc @p wonder what you think of this.

@mewmew @p I sorta agree with healthcare, because you can't really pick the best hospital when you get hit by a car and are lying unconscious.
However arguing with need is highly is immoral. You HAVE to work or die, it's the natural human state. Go to a forest and try arguing that with a tree or a rabbit.

@matrix @mewmew @p even a rabbit has to work for its food or die, unless thats your point. if it was, idk why you brought up a tree, trees generally just exist and wait for rain and stuff

@wowaname @mewmew @p That can work too, but I meant it from the human perspective. If you want to survive in the forest you have to work, meaning hunt and cook the rabbit and build a shelter. The rabbit won't cook itself and the tree won't cut itself.
