@matrix I’m above 60 most of the time, If this thing used more than 60% of my CPU, I’d be fine.

@VD15 @matrix been helpin nerds stuck at 60fps on r/doom and that seems to be the fix (applies to any overlay apparently)

@VD15 @steakwipe That's quite a boost. I should try it too, might give me a solid 144.

@VD15 @steakwipe I tried it. Went from avg 130 with drops to 90 during transitions into large areas to solid 144. It feels so good.

@rasterman @matrix @VD15 insufficient hardware? linux? :(

im on a fx 6300 (OC'ed to 4.3ghz, but ancient nonetheless) and 8gb mismatched ddr3 ram (r9 390x 8gb though) and i cleanly vsync to 60 on high/ultra- uncapped it hovers around 100-120 :/

i want everyone to be able to play doom
@rasterman @VD15 @matrix lol an r9 390x, far better than anything else in the machine. but ive seen reports of gtx 950's handling it fine fwiw
@steakwipe @VD15 @matrix Yeah... about that. I have a low end GPU from 2014 and yours seems to be 1300% faster, according to the user benchmark site. I was literally *in the process of acquiring* an NVIDIA from the 2000 series; but the government stopped everything with the quarantine and now it's out of reach until Corona-chan goes away.

@rasterman @VD15 @matrix ooof well a several gen old geforce could handle it if you could get your hands on one since vulkan is apparently literally magic :( sorry buddy

i wish you could play!
@steakwipe @VD15 @matrix Thanks. Don't worry, when the pandemic is over, I'll get to that new GPU and might even get to know what people mean when they speak of games running at 60fps. Sounds like finding El Dorado; but I don't know; maybe it exists. :blobthinking:
@rasterman @VD15 @matrix lol right? the minute i started hitting 60fps folks started talking about 120 and 240 fps and it hurts. im perfectly happy where im at and if doom's any indication, as long as games keep realizing vulkan is where it's at, i won't need to upgrade for at least a little longer :D
@steakwipe @VD15 @matrix I'd need to see 60fps for a long time before I aspire to more. Can the human eye even perceive those refresh rates with any degree of detail as to tell the difference?

And what's that about Vulkan being magic?
