@matrix >some soynerd-/posthipster-looking fag-on-the-rag according to the vid title Is this anything I need to watch in full, or do I get the gist of it from the first few seconds?

@igeljaeger @cowanon @matrix
Are you trying to say idubz is a part of the golden years of youtube? :akkothink:
@igeljaeger @cowanon @matrix
Fuck no. The actual golden years were already ramping down by the time he came aboard.
@alyx @cowanon @matrix his pre filthy frank content wasnt bad either. But whatever. All of that is over now anyways
@alyx @igeljaeger @cowanon @matrix the actual golden years were anywhere before the google plus buyout. Things got increasily downhill when they added copyright strikes and then total shit with the adpocalypse making it so people can't swear or talk about certain things
@igeljaeger @alyx @cowanon @matrix I meant integration, after google plus failed they just kinda merged it with youtube
@cirno @igeljaeger @cowanon @matrix
As far as I'm concerned, Youtube's golden era was pretty much finished by around 2010.

@shampoobottle @igeljaeger @matrix @alyx @cirno @cowanon that was on the ninja master website right before that, forget his name dave something. His book was fun.

@alyx @cowanon @igeljaeger @matrix I'd estimate that. iirc the Google plus garbage happened in 2011. I think there's still a few quality channels left but for the most part it feels very corperate, like I don't even think most youtubers have fun with it anymore, it's just another 9-5 commitment
@cirno @cowanon @igeljaeger @matrix
I remember when everyone was just doing it for fun, and getting a Youtube partner program was an accomplishment.
Heck, I remember when no one even considered asking for donations, and bigger youtubers made PO boxes because fans wanted to send them gifts and letters. And every once in a while they'd find like a $10 bill in an envelope.

@alyx I remember when YT started taking down vids for swearing that was around 2010. @cowanon @matrix @igeljaeger @cirno

@shampoobottle As soon as you started seeing good production values that signalled the beginning of the end. The appeal of YouTube back in the day was that you were watching ordinary people that were just like you. Hence "You"Tube. @a7 @igeljaeger @matrix @alyx @cirno @cowanon

@cirno If forget where I saw this but someone made the apt observation that it went from being YouTube to ThemTube. Basically television 2.0. @cowanon @matrix @shampoobottle @alyx @igeljaeger @a7

@terryenglish @cirno @cowanon @matrix @shampoobottle @alyx @a7 I dont know what kind of garbage youre watching but most of the shit I watch is just neckbeards talking about videogames

>actually did the mistake to try to watch this
I've seen Smosh videos less cringey than this.
@alyx @cowanon @matrix I dont get your humor. How is smosh even comparable to doing this stuff
@alyx @cowanon @matrix I remember their pokemon irl stuff and thats about it. Either way. Getting drunk and eating hair fo your mate wasnt part of their stuff Id say. Likle, if you dont get filthy frank humor, then this entire argument will bea giant waste of time.
@igeljaeger @cowanon @matrix
I get why some people like the weird "i'm gonna slap food with my fists" random type of humor, but it's not for me. :cirnoShrug:
I'm more a fan of "let's write actual jokes" or "funny situations" type of humor. Also, a good pun always gets to me. ALWAYS.

@igeljaeger I wasn’t watching much there since my connection at the time was mediocre (I was stoked when my then-ISP’s max download speed went from ~350kb/s to ~800kb/s). Plus I was much more into gaming and watching pirated movies in between shitposting on 4chan, 420chan, 7chan, 99chan, uboachan… @matrix
