Linux is great.
Linux Mint: We are removing snapd from Linux Mint 20.
Me: sudo rm /etc/apt/preferences.d/nosnap.pref goes brrrrrr

@matrix My limited experience with Snap was that every application that ran through it was considerably slower when compared to the regular version. I haven't used it since. Sounded like a good idea, though. Like what Apple does.

I'm not sure about general performance but they do launch slower

@matrix Maybe I need an SSD. I bought one for the laptop and suddenly felt like I had been living in primitive times up until that moment.

They launch slower even on an SSD. But SSD is probably the best investment for even older PCs.

@matrix Truth be told, the only thing keeping me from getting an SSD for my main PC right now is that I don't want to go through the hassle of re-installing and customising the OSes. Well, Linux mostly.
