Reddit is a global platform. Does that mean that you are not allowed to hate on men and white people because they are a minority?
@matrix They use the term “majority” because white people currently make up a majority of the US population. Once that changes they’ll use a different word that covers the same group.
@sheetposter @rasterman @matrix They might have already. I know a guy of east Asian ethnicity who was told by his work (big NY bank/finance type company I won’t name) that he is not considered a minority by their standards, and I don’t think it has to do with Asians being common in Asia. Maybe they meant in their work place? I don’t know.
@sheetposter @matrix @rasterman I’m not sure how he found either. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some promotion available for minorities he inquired about.
@rasterman @matrix @sheetposter This was a big financial company, not some leftist org. I think they just want to avoid ethnicity based privileges as much as possible and know certain groups won’t cause a ruckus if denied.
