@matrix SSDs seems to produce much more heat than HDDs though, specially on writes.

@matrix depends on what you do but at some point you need to write and there is things where the ratio is almost all writes (logging, video taping, backups, …).

@lanodan But even than, don't they they still consume less power therefore still produce less heat?

@matrix Nah, flash produces a lot of heat on writes, stuff like SD cards can basically burn if they don't throttle the speed correctly.
Meanwhile an HDD does produce a bit of heat but not so much, specially ones from the last few years.
@thatbrickster @matrix Pretty sure that one is just for pressure differences, which are quite wild on earth. (you can have yogurts popping by going from cold sea level to hot mountains)
@lanodan @matrix for those purposes, hdds make sense regardless due to most access being sequential
