@gopiandcode
What FOSS games? There are no good FOSS games and games made for profit that went FOSS 10 years later don't count.
@rgk

@Moon @gopiandcode @matrix @rgk no one plays it, and it's made specifically as just a way to play quake 3 arena with free assets

xonotic is a better example
@shpuld @gopiandcode @matrix @rgk I feel like openarena would still be good if it had some fresh maps/textures/player models. obviously pretty low-poly these days.
@Moon @shpuld @gopiandcode @matrix
y'all made me remember how I used to be blown away by bump mapping in Halo:CE.
Oh god and when we installed OG FarCry on our potato-tier PC.
> Look at that water bro! HOLY SHIT that water. Muh FPS bro!
@rgk @Moon @gopiandcode @matrix still looks and plays great, shame it's not easy to get running with modern graphics drivers

I had no issues running it from Steam on a modern OS. The only issue is that in the Steam version enemies see and shoot you through tents so you need to patch it.
@gopiandcode @rgk @Moon

@matrix @gopiandcode @rgk @Moon I think it's mostly broken on AMD, it's broken af for me

and yeah, the 1.4 patch broke the AI and now everyone thinks the game always sucked when it played amazing before they ruined it in an update

@shpuld
Oh that's possible it's just AMD as I played it on a Nvidia GPU.
Yesh, it sucks that the easiest way of playing such a great game gives you an inferior version.
@gopiandcode @rgk @Moon

> I think it's mostly broken on AMD
why am I not surprised lol
@rgk @Moon @gopiandcode @matrix nvidia isn't very good with following spec in their drivers either, many times I've had glsl shader code that works just fine on amd and intel but completely breaks on nvidia. if you have an nvidia card then it's easy to make sure everything works but when you don't have one. far cry 1 is just a notorious game for using lots of nonstandard extensions from a very different time
