Ah yes vocabulary that Torchwood used for calling concentration camps… :blobsweat:
@lanodan @matrix it doesn't even make sense from economic standpoint. Bullets are cheaper than internment in the long run but deportation would be the cheapest.
@matrix lol, but seriously. What do these people WANT to do with these children?
If it isn't "detainment" what is the alternative, set them out in the desert and tell them to go home?
Bring them to some city and let them to their own thing?
There literally is no alternative, which is why Biden can't change policy...
@servant_of_the_anime_avatars @matrix "detention". An alternative is either or you mean option but ok this was my sperging so I think instead of keeping them 18 months in a cage they could appoint more people to process asylum requests or send them where they came from

the problem is that international treaties protect asylum because of a "well-grounded fear" of violence etc. because then people can e.g. escape from Holland to England when Germany invades it - but it has to be in the first country they can escape to

but the US can always say administratively we don't take any refugees from El Salvador because it is not a country with a level of violence which warrants asylum requests - e.g. with a German passport you can't really request asylum in Switzerland or Estonia today in 2021
