@lanodan Yes the inside looks weird, but I have never seen one that brown.

I always thought about sausages minced meat stuffed in animal intestines. I guess once you introduce vegan alternatives, sausage can be considered anything.
@matrix Sausages with actual intestines are actually quite rare

Oh yeah right. It's still made from animals though.
@matrix there is synthetic ones but I'm not that well versed in how all sausages are made ^^

I'm not sure from what the vegan ones are made of (maybe some water dissolveable plastic?) but the non vegan ones are usually from animal collagen which is gotten from skin, hooves and connecting tissues.
@matrix Yeah probably something like this or starch, I looked at the ingredients list of my stuff (vegan) and nothing seems like it could be used for it. 
And it's not like bundling food in sausage-like format is limited to only meat, tofu sausages have been used for a serious while in things like sauerkraut and one could argue nems and maki sushi are similar enough to sausages.
Maybe there need to be an alignement chart for sausages.
