Linus somehow managed to remove his DE with sudo apt-get install steam :omegalul:

@matrix thought it's fake, but no, it's on floatplane :blobcatthumbsup:
@matrix They(PopOs Team) removed the "Yes do as a say" from default because basically because he didn't knew how to read that https://github.com/pop-os/apt/pull/1

@matrix "I'm a world renowned tech youtuber, of course I know what I'm doing"

@matrix @coolboymew ok but apt doing bullshit like that really sets me off any debian based distro
@Xalef @matrix never happened with me with Mx Linux

But he's a retard for not having read the warning. I suppose it wouldn't be stupid to have a second DE installed, just in case some stupid shit like this happen

If he read the warning, then he could've just went to download it from the website itself, it works
@Xalef @matrix @coolboymew yeah apt has a tendency to nuke everything if you try removing a single pre-installed package, I've managed to nuke a few installations accidentally doing that before I learned how apt works within my first few months of using linux

my only question is why trying to install steam forced those packages to be uninstalled, since I've never seen installing something do that
@Alex @Xalef @matrix probably whoever is maintaining it in the repo fucked up

@matrix@gameliberty.club
why did he even use the terminal, isn't steam on the pop shop?

@matrix Hey there fellow consoomers, what's your dAiLy DrIvEr??????

@matrix It comes off as one of those buzzwords, like battlestation, an attempt to make computers sound more cool and fulfilling than they actually are.

@matrix They're cool for some things, but I mean, I doubt anyone who's been in an actual battle calls a computer a battlestation.

@parker @matrix I think it’s more like “EDC” to delineate something you actually use. I own 3 laptops, but 2 of them collect dust until I have specific use for them. So I can’t really say what it’s like to use the other 2 regularly, only the one I use daily.

It can turn into a buzzword for gearheard arguments, just like EDC. But that’s a problem with the nerds and not the term.

@parker @matrix It's almost as annoying as EDC threads. They love that term, too.
@Alex @matrix dammit, I dislike that one too, or just buzzwords in general
@matrix Do you know when they will upload it to youtube? I want to see this video but I won't subscribe to him
@kumicota @matrix Let me know if you find a link I've been looking forward to that video
@kumicota @matrix it's like their first hour trying linux more or less. With varying degrees of success...

I am happy they're trying though and any issues they can highlight will help linux get better in the end :blobcatfacepalm:
