So Initial D is set in like the mid 90s as far as I can tell and it's set across two years. And in those two years they went from almost nobody having a cellphone to some people having a cellphone and ending up with everyone having dumb phones that can browse the internet and with PDA/smartphones.
Something is not adding up 
@matrix Time in the Initial D universe flows faster because it mastered drifting, time in our universe follows the speed limit. 2 years in Initial D is like 20 years in real life.
