@matrix why are these two things presented as mutually exclusive? spam is "speaking freely" at its most extreme and isnt welcoming to anyone at all. i believe that people should be constructive toward their communities whenever they say or do anything

I don't think spam comes to the mind of most people when they get asked such question.
@matrix most people didnt really grow up on the internet. whether spam classifies as free speech has been up for debate for longer than the internet has existed
@matrix i find 4chan unwelcoming because most of the content is pajeet spam, for example. it's unstimulating and doesn't contribute to a sense of community

Certainly, you gotta scroll through a lot of shit on 4chan, but most people don't browse 4chan so they don't consider such scenario

@redneonglow @matrix I still remember the moment I think the internet got bad. It was when digital photography became cheap and ubiquitous and people brought normie life into the internet. And of course it was mostly women.
