Not fitting this model but a murderer and otherwise violent even before she shot up her professor colleagues is Amy Bishop. That case can be worth looking into as to how her mother’s connections to the local police in Massachusetts, which is very corrupt and also very hard on innocents who use guns in self-defense, got her off after she: murdered her brother and then went outside and threatened with her shotgun people at a car dealership and as I recall tried her hand at carjacking unsuccessfully.
Way too many of these cases would have never happened if the authorities did their job including as I recall Laurie Dann,
Massachusetts prefers the anarcho-tyranny of charging self-defense cases as first degree murder and throwing into jail people who accidentally carry outside ammo of their father in a borrowed hunting jacket, or who can’t retreat from inside their dwelling or in another case refuse to leave a sleeping daughter to the tender mercies of a home invader. The latter is due to “Dukakis judges” and the legislators kept passing “this time we mean it!” laws but as I recall that’s still iffy. Glad I left it long ago, would never have been there except for school and then computer programming work until Route 128 died after the Cold War.
