I think it doesn't have enough power to drive them fully.
I don't think even my integrated soundcard is enough........
I'm pretty sure having headphones somewhere between 50%-80% volume is probably a sign of that

Yeah.... I've tried reading some forums and it doesn't seem to be a regular occurence with integrated or phone dacs. I'm gonna wait for that shorter cable I ordered directly from Sennheiser and if that doesn't help I'm gonna have to return them.
@matrix there will almost always be some hiss in background - speaker amplifier might be noisy, recoding might be noisy etc.

Yeah, I understand, perfectly clean setups are tens of thousands of dollars. It's almost inaudible in the speakers thankfully.
