@matrix That was unironically me, sans the propeller beanie
@matrix >grow up in the early 2000s
>The economy isn't the greatest but at least everything is peaceful and sane
>2010 rolls around
>Get a sinking feeling in my gut over the decade that the comparatively halcyon conditions of the early 2000s are never coming back
>2020s confirm that suspicion and then some

Man, isn't modernity grand?
@Shadowman311 @matrix America never really recovered post-9/11, did she? It's strange talking to people who have no idea of a world pre-9/11.
@Shadowman311 @matrix To quote poast’s most prominent Frenchman, modernity is so great that everyone living under it is going extinct
@DW2 @matrix And everyone is nursing very valid grudges with the establishment.

My dad lost his job during the recession and it was extremely touch and go for us for quite a while, all because a bunch of jews wanted to rip off the economy, I will get my pound of flesh for that, not to mention all the heinous shit done during COVID.
@matrix millenials have it the worse because we actually remember when it all turned to shit
@lewdthewides @matrix Some of the older Zoomers can too, though admittedly we probably don't remember it as clearly as you do.
@Shadowman311 @matrix my memory of Clinton isn't very good. For some reason I remember Princess Diana's funeral fairly well
@lewdthewides @matrix @Shadowman311 strong memories of dad bitching at young me about the weed smoking adulterer and NAFTA with me in the backseat as rush limbaugh played over AM radio

man i wish it was just a stupid trade agreement that put a couple of factory workers out of a job, that would have been bad but tenable
Before 2000 a man with a bus driver job could afford a house, 2 cars, food and cloths for his family as well as the newest console and many games cartridges, now 1 man and 1 woman working full time have a hard time to afford those things together, so much for prosperity...
