I mean it cut down the book heavily too; the book had a lot more chapters, crazier and more violent scenes (including one that makes the "cool it with the anti semitic remarks" line way funnier and have a punchline to it and another where he does in fact go to Dorsia), and the ending was a bit different actually open to interpretation.
