@lina @matrix yeah, in Portuguese is "cigano", and I've already figured out that most of the times when talking about a group of people, those aren't false cognates
@Suzu @matrix interesting, cuz it came to russian from serbo-croatian speech, and apparently it has hindi origins too? quite convoluted
@lina @matrix I can't recall any examples from the top of my mind now, but now and then when I'm listening to Russian bands I hear a word that sounds familiar, and when I go look for the lyrics and shit and see the word, it is phonetically similar to some Portuguese word (I can't say the spelling is similar because of the alphabet differences) and also has the same meaning.

So, yeah, linguistics be crazy, there are a lot of stuff that has the same roots
