i should start a 0 egress fee s3 host sub 4$/TB

*with no hidden shit like wasabi's 90 day billing for deleted items

@graf My guess is that that's not financially feasible since even the cheap ones like e2 are now $5/TB

@matrix it is if you are buying used but still good for 99.99999% of use for a fraction of the cost and cycle them out as they actually fail using ZFS and raid. you can get down to ~0.05/TB without much effort
@matrix in fact, the cost i would be concerned with isnt drives but bandwidth considering we use (at minimum) 10gbit per
Follow

@graf That's more of what I had in mind. I have no doubts about being able to get cheap drives, but I would be worried about traffic costs, especially from heavy users, administrative costs and overhead from scaling up.

@matrix im going to talk to my guys about this today and see what i can make work. i'd love to have my own s3, these niggas hold your shit hostage unless you pay $$$$ or agree to pay $$$$ for everything you change or delete. sick of it

@graf I have the same feelings. I ran Minio for like a year, but it was too much hassle and the performance was poor.

@matrix ill keep you in specific in the loop because i know your unique challenges

@graf Thanks. I would be happy for a cheaper host. I have about 7TB with about 1TB/month traffic
