@matrix if you saw my logs you'd see how fast it was and how many there were.
@matrix but yeah I don't really know why it's not so bad for mastodon comparably
@sun @matrix Because most of the big instances aren't actually self-hosted at all and mastosoc decided to just throw more hardware at the problem. Yes, Pleroma has some complicated queries, but those shouldn't mostly matter unless someone scrapes user's atom feeds, or directly scrapes from the FE.
@sun @matrix And also a lot of Mastodon instances are behind CF, which mitigates this problem a lot.
