Doom Dark Ages looks pretty good
@fcktheworld587 @matrix i loved the hell (lol) out of doom 2016, played through it several times. tried playing doom eternal and just could not get into it. don't remember too much why that was but i think part of it was that i thought there was too much platforming. i just wanted to shoot things. i guess it didn't feel as tight as 2016 did.
hopefully dark ages is better/more engaging!
@beardalaxy @fcktheworld587 Dark Ages removes the dash and double jump so you might like it more.
I liked Doom Eternal quite a bit, only really disliking the more cartoonish color palette, but changing up the gameplay for the sequel is a good choice.
@matrix @beardalaxy I think I just need to play Eternal on a controller more, vs Keyboard and mouse.
I'm gonna give it a shot, to see if I can maintain interest in Eternal enough to finish it.
The constant need to change weapons was a little much for me, but maybe it'll seem more manageable when I have less button choice for my old man brain to navigate
@fcktheworld587 @beardalaxy I don't think it's gonna be better on a controller because it's still a fast paced shooter. I believe you can use the weapon wheel even with a mouse
@matrix @beardalaxy got on here specifically for this thread lol, I've basically been playing Doom Eternal the whole time since my last message. I'm having a blast on it, now
@fcktheworld587 @beardalaxy That's nice to hear
@matrix @beardalaxy possibly my favorite shooter of all time. The combat shotgun almost makes up for the 2004 shotgun
@matrix looks super different. I haven't been able to get myself motivated to adapt to the complexity Doom Eternal brought, enough to finish that game, so idunno if I'll even wind up playing it - which would make it the first Doom game I didn't play at the first possible moment to me. Which is not to say it doesn't look like a cool game, or a fun one
