@matrix i wouldn't call a site mimicking gmail that requires :javascript: and loads over 10MB of data "static"

@DarkMahesvara it's static because that data doesn't change and therefore can be cached by CF's free tier

> What are solid, cheaper alternatives?

Torrent a container image with instructions on running it locally. Should be nothing more than docker run -d -p 8080:8080 jmail. If it relies on a separate database container, then Docker Compose is fine.

That would at least let other people host it easily.

@vic renting a dedicated server and cloudflare free tier

@matrix @lain isn’t this type of application a really bad candidate for lambda style calls
@matrix @lain next time make a god damn lamp stack but new devs only know react nextjs and lie

@sun @lain I think this would be an okayish use case if it was a one off very low traffic site, but dude already has multiple website therefore seems reasonable to rent 1 decent machine and have everything on it

@sun
I would sooner use cloudflare's S3 clone that doesn't have bandwidth charges. Serve the entire site over S3.

@sun
K. Don't use em if the site ain't dynamic. Maybe use them for search. Put all the indexes and all of the content as json on an object storage bucket and fetch as needed.

@matrix@gameliberty.club for a short while I was confused (ai slop?)

and then I remembered what jmail was.

@matrix Mostly static? We may have visited different jmails.

@matrix But they had to be cute and make it look and animate like gmail!
