I don't think 4 interchanges in the span of 4km on the busiest highway in the country is a good idea

@p yeah, US freeway exit straight to city streets is insane. at least Texas had a good idea with frontage roads

@matrix Oh, no, everyone has those, we just call them access roads. I think there are other names.
@matrix Oh, I see what you're saying. Nah, look at the length of the off-ramps.

The 110 north of the interchange is more like the thing you're describing and it can be a legit terror to drive on.
@matrix @p I think the more insane stuff is layering roads via bridges being a normal thing in US.
While freeways in the middle of cities I've seen that in europe few times, but they've typically been removed/repurposed in the last decade or so.

@lanodan @p Italy is fun.

Why is layering bad? You avoid junctions and so decrease congestion.

@matrix @p Layers thing typically means just moving the junctions somewhere else and having access ramps to go in/out of them.
And when you do it US style it's several layers rather than just bridge across a highway kind of thing that's comparable to like a bridge across a railroad (while railroad crossings sucks).
@matrix @lanodan Ha, the freeways in Cyberpunk were done by a Japanese city designer, and you can tell.
