The meme is very accurate and I agree the paper is dogshit, but looking at most of the responses they are just as soy. It's all "muh ethics", "what will this do to muh queer community", "muh pedophilia", "fags touch kids", "muh racism". I have yet to see a response that criticizes it as providing no scientific value.

The paper is utter dogshit. Like @Moon said, the paper itself is just a masturbatory exercise. Dude doesn't even provide sauce for the main subject of his paper, but inserts some random ass citations. God I hate sociology and philosophy papers.
Examining content of various doujinshi genres, various trends, themes etc could be interesting and valuable, but that would also take effort and you also have to keep your feelings of arousal and disgust at bay.
The fact that auto ethnography is considered a valid form of research that gets published only proves how screwed and ideologically corrupted academia is.
