Someone, please explain something to me. I believe I've asked about it before, but never got any answer.

People join a Federated social network right? They are aware that their posts are gonna travel through through different servers, right? They consent to that, right? They know other programs, like mobile apps, can be used to access their stuff, right?

So why the fuck are they still surprised people can write bots and scrappers to grab public pots using the very tools that let their servers and mobile clients operate on a daily basis?
