I have had some success on Trisquel with my AMD 300 series and older such as my R7 370 and R9 290 but only some. I get 3D accelleration but very slow performance where even Super Tux Kart is a slideshow. Hopefully Trisquel 12 with newer Mesa versions help on this regard.
