Fun fact: if you want to develop #FreeSoftware for #macOS, #Apple has made it so difficult for your users to run it (they have to intentionally bypass several "security" systems) that you are basically forced to pay them $99 a year to "notarize" your code if you want your users to have a good experience and trust your app.

Does this actually improve the security of macOS? No.

Does it make Apple absolute mountains of cash? Yes.

These are the business practices Apple users support. No way around it other than to not use it. I would be fine if FOSS projects decided to ditch Apple in protest. Their resources could be better used elsewhere.
