This really happens. A mechanic customer came into my store with one of these that he took off the rear end of a 2001 Chevy Suburban. The owner was deaf and apparently didn't hear any grinding noise.

If I don't trust a mechanic to give me advice then I wouldn't go there at all. It's a great feeling when you find one you trust.
