It turns out that if you move to another country AND no longer have the recovery phone number tied to your account, Google isn't too keen to let you log in to your YouTube account.

27 days down, 3 to go...

Guess I should start brainstorming what to cover, eh?

A good reason to not trust 2FA tied to phone numbers or email. Plenty of programs like KeePassXC allow TOTP for 2FA and works great. Accounts should allow this at least as an option.

@publiclewdness Indeed, and it was a tough lesson to learn. Just getting to the point where I could be sent this link in 30 days was a nightmare.

@Linux4Everyone and you got lucky! I was in another country and refused to give my phone number to Google (it wasn’t already tied to my account), so… they definitely blocked my account. Never got it back. It was a good thing though, it made me quit Google, made me switch to Linux, made me a privacy freak… I got the message loud and clear!
