The Linux Libre kernel has been updated to version 6.9. A whole bunch more blobs had to be removed to keep it fully libre. This continues to be one of the best kernels to use if privacy and security are your top concerns as it keeps closed source blobs to a miniumum that do God knows what.

I had some good results with my AMD GPUs. Last year we got to the point where I could adjust refresh rate and resolution on many AMD GPUs that were in the R* 300 series and older using the libre kernel. Previously I had zero success on AMD GPUs. I couldn't game much on them though for 3D games. Super Tux Kart on my R9 270 was basically a slide show. I tried my R9 270 today on the new 6.9.0-gnu kernel and was able to get up to 15 FPS on Super Tux Kart. 15 FPS isn't great but it's 15 frames more than I was getting before. I also am able to get my RX 590 to boot where before kernel 6.9.0-gnu it just gave an error message. I can't adjust refresh rates or resolutions on the RX 590 still but progress is progress.

An emissions reduction program by an environmental regulator will lead to a 50-cent per gallon of gasoline increase, according to a report by a state environment regulator.

Last year the California Air Resources Board (CARB) said gas prices would increase by 50 cents next year and every year after in order to reduce emissions.

This is in addition to California’s existing gas tax!
