Actually both are good questions to me.
A good start is source code and a FOSS license. Unless it has both I don't trust it at all and look for other options.
I already had lots of privacy, security, and user freedom reasons to avoid Apple but one more reason never hurts I guess.
Good there are forks like Abrowser and Librewolf that probably won't have this.
I assume any news coming from Google is bad news. Helps keep expectations in check.
Unless a nation is the perfect utopia with all of it's citizens needs met it shouldn't be giving once cent in foreign aid to anyone.
