Being on the Epic Store was enough for me to not buy it but they just had to go full retard.

I usually use Plank for a dock. Can anybody who uses Guix recommend a replacement ? Guix doesn't seem to have Plank or the Mate Dock Applet. I could switch to XFCE if I need to as it has a built in dock but would prefer to stick with mate if I can.

A good saying I heard once was "trying to spend your way out of debt is like trying to fuck your way out of aids".

One thing that bothered me since some time is that for switching between different 🎶 players required to🔓 the 📱 .

So e.g. pausing #gnome podcasts to listen to music via #gapless needed ever so many steps. I've thus added a lockscreen plugin to #phosh that tracks all currently running media players that use #mpris and allows to interact with them.

This is all pretty rough still but I can hopefully brush it up for 0.48 (gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/p).

I have been messing around with Guix on a spare system and one thing that seems strange to me is that to do a full upgrade on Guix it takes me sometimes between 30-60 minutes. It's a bit of an older system with an FX-9590, 16GB RAM, a 1TB SATA Samsung SSD, and a GTX 780 Ti but that same system can do a full upgrade on EndeavourOS, Trisquel, Solus, or other distros in usually less than 5-10 minutes. Wondering if i'm doing something wrong. The commands I have used are:

guix pull
hash guix
guix upgrade
sudo guix system reconfigure /etc/config.scm

Ideas ?

I've successfully configured GNU Guix offloading on VisionFive2 board (RISC-V) to my main machine, to speed up the building process.

Used this part of the Guix manual during the configuration:
guix.gnu.org/manual/en/html_no

It was non-obvious for me that for RISC-V "build-machine" the "systems" list should contain "riscv64-linux" string (instead of "riscv64-linux-gnu" as "guix build --list-targets" prints.)
