Linux distro "Debian" has released version 12.4. This update fixes a local privilege escalation vulnerability in Amanda; Emerald theme based artwork for Debian Edu 12; support for Unicode 15.1 in different components; support for Zstd compression in libsolv; and lots of bug and security fixes. Debian is available for various architectures including AMD64; ARM64; i386; mips; and ppc64. If you're looking to ditch Windows or Mac for something more privacy respecting then I would recommend to give it a try.

Storage company "Kioxia" has donated a software development kit (SDK) to the Linux Foundation. Personally I would rather have it donated to the FSF but it's better than nothing.

Here's a press release from the Linux foundation:

@Dan_Ramos

I wouldn't buy it but something tells me it would be entertaining if they did.

Ford has brought back the Bronco. Should they bring back the Pinto?

You can only pick one:

#startrek #ncc1701 #ncc701a #ncc1701d #ncc1701e

I have been using Lemmy more, specifically an instance called Sopuli. I picked that one because they had a page for Libreboot.

@nantucketebooks

I like Lemmy myself. I use the Burggit instance mainly due to it's lack of censorship.

@NatureNerd

There's a few purebloods in this cesspool but we're few and far between.

I need to resize a GNU/Linux desktop for a broken display where the bottom 60 pixel rows no longer work. I know about xrandr and I already know how to use that to solve similar problems, but does anyone know if a GUI tool exists to set custom screen sizes that are not offered by default for those that are less familiar with the CLI?
