#Intuit has done a lot of evil lately -- like doubling the costs of #QuickBooks Desktop every year, eliminating the ability to even use it longer than a year, and then killing off their point of sale and CC processor without actually contacting their users -- but I take personal issue with their latest stunt: removal of changelogs/release notes for the current version (2024). The company that recently released a buggy version of QB 2023 that literally (and we can only assume "accidentally") *doubled* the charges on invoices no longer wants you to know what they've fixed in their updates. Coincidence, I'm sure.

I have a lot of accountant clients -- does anyone have any good experiences with QB alternatives? I'm looking at pushing them to Manager.io

Did you know that Google and co are in the process of eliminating third-party cookies? Lofty ideal. Except that their replacement, #RWS / #RelatedWebsiteSets / #FirstPartySets is designed explicitly to allow them to simply use your device to talk behind your back. This new feature is hand-in-hand with the #floc functionality that was globally struck down only a year ago. They fixed it by changing the word "cohorts" to "sets" and giving you three new options to disable, the sum total of which fail to actually prevent the new behavior. This is exactly why there's this new push to eliminate ad-blockers on YouTube: it's all a part of the testing for RWS to ensure that the publisher and their advertisers can collaborate using backchannels literally hosted in your own browser.
