I just had my first #xmpp audio call from my android Smartphone with #Conversations to a friends computer with #Dino.
All running across self-hosted infrastructure. 😃

PSA: Please do not force upgrade gnome-control-center at this time. It will be removed and it will be difficult to re-install.

As always, please proceed with caution when running a `apt dist-upgrade` or `apt full-upgrade`, and check to see what is being removed when you upgrade.

`apt upgrade` are always safe to execute.

I just talked to someone who went to the protest at NZ Parliament.

He said that every bit of lawn in the area is now a camp ground.

He thought there might be 2000 people camping there.

The council has allowed free parking for protesters in the stadium near by, to unblock the streets.

The tow truckers and the army don't want to move the protesters vehicles.

The protest is giving free meals to anyone, Asian food, Indian food, vegan and halal options too.

They're not leaving any time soon.

Interesting challenge: p2p package management (in distros, or BSD projects). I was reminded of bittorrent's bottleneck, namely the delay in finding peers, which would make such a package manager very slow. If that can be solved, distros wouldn't need lots of expensive bandwidth.

ICYMI 👉 Over the past 18 months, we've been on a roller-coaster ride developing #futex2, a new set of kernel system calls. As part of this effort, the futex_waitv() syscall has now landed in #Linux 5.16. But what exactly is #futex? Let's dive in! col.la/futex #coding
