If you're looking for an inexpensive way to dip your toes outside of Android I have a used Nexus 5 for sale that has Ubuntu Touch already installed on it. Works great as a daily driver if you just need a web browser; messaging; and email.

This week's donation went to the MATE project. MATE is a desktop environment that can be used on a variety of Linux and BSD distros. MATE is a fork of Gnome 2 that aims to maintain and continue the latest GNOME 2 code base, frameworks, and core applications. The code is licensed using GPLv2.

SAN FRANCISCO — Google has agreed to settle a $5 billion privacy lawsuit alleging that it spied on people who used the “incognito” mode in its Chrome browser - along with similar “private” modes in other browsers - to track their internet use.
I bet they sell it and such for more than what they just “paid”. Especially when FBI et al will pay a good bit for such “legal” spying, even before you get into using the same data for AI and algorithms. So like how many ways can they profit off that data? 🤔
