@realcaseyrollins @thraeryn IMO, yes. But Riot is more attractive than most #XMPP clients, so it may be as good. There's a couple of gotchas either way: users have to be in encrypted mode in one to one or specially created small multiuser chats. A big, public room--or an older one--may be unencrypted.

Conversations on android is a really good client for xmpp. Better than any matrix app

But its like Skype in that group chats are based on invites. Not a room browser you join a collection of rooms with ease.
