@realcaseyrollins Let this sink in:

ALM became a slogan because some people did not like hearing BLM. In other words, it is used as a way to deflect attention from BLM ... to say precisely Black people don't matter.

No, not everyone who uses it means that, but that's where the slogan came from and how it has been used most for the last several years.

@lnxw37a2 Well doesn't BLM "deflect attention" from the human rights of non-blacks? It seems like an appropriate response to me, esp. consider the disdain for whites that can be found among the camp.

@realcaseyrollins > Well doesn't BLM "deflect attention" from the human rights of non-blacks?

No, not at all. Their original purpose was to emphasize the disproportionate death rate of Blacks due to police violence, and that's all.

It has nothing to do with deflecting attention from others, just focusing attention where it is currently most needed.

> consider the disdain for whites that can be found

And that's unfortunate that they (and most woke-left groups) do that. Probably a good reason not to send money or otherwise support the organization itself, while still supporting the goal of stopping the killings and violence.

Story you might like:

A nephew (with a White dad) was driving on a SoCal freeway and pulled some stupid lane change right in front of a cop. The cop pulled him over and was talking to him about what he did.

My nephew replied something to the effect that it did not matter, so give me my ticket and let me go.

The cop asked "Is your dad White?"

Nephew: Yes.

Cop: Don't let your dad's stupidity get you killed. Ask your mom to explain this to you.

The cop let him go. His mom was both grateful to the cop and angry at her son.

I guess the cop was trying to tell my nephew that (most) cops treat darker people differently, and _that_ is what #BlackLivesMatter is supposed to be about.

@lnxw37a2
Actually, * does * detract from more serious issues, and blacks actually are not shot disproportionately more than whites when you factor for how many blacks and whites actually interact with law enforcement.

I'll ask you this: how come nobody cares that a white guy was killed by officers after one put his knee on his neck and back for 13 minutes? Or the white people who are getting mauled by mobs every day for literally no reason? What about the police officers getting assassinated every day now? Or that 19 unarmed whites were killed last year by cops, compared to 9 unarmed blacks? 🤔

@realcaseyrollins

>> how come nobody cares that a white guy was killed by officers after one put his knee on his neck and back for 13 minutes?

That's a question you're not going to get an answer for, at least not one that's meaningful.

@lnxw37a2
@realcaseyrollins Yep. That's why I said it.

My family came here though Ellis Island to escape rising tension in Europe and to make a better life for themselves and their progeny. But I'm still the problem. Can't win for losing.
