@realcaseyrollins Let this sink in:

ALM became a slogan because some people did not like hearing BLM. In other words, it is used as a way to deflect attention from BLM ... to say precisely Black people don't matter.

No, not everyone who uses it means that, but that's where the slogan came from and how it has been used most for the last several years.

@lnxw37a2 Well doesn't BLM "deflect attention" from the human rights of non-blacks? It seems like an appropriate response to me, esp. consider the disdain for whites that can be found among the camp.

@realcaseyrollins > Well doesn't BLM "deflect attention" from the human rights of non-blacks?

No, not at all. Their original purpose was to emphasize the disproportionate death rate of Blacks due to police violence, and that's all.

It has nothing to do with deflecting attention from others, just focusing attention where it is currently most needed.

> consider the disdain for whites that can be found

And that's unfortunate that they (and most woke-left groups) do that. Probably a good reason not to send money or otherwise support the organization itself, while still supporting the goal of stopping the killings and violence.

Story you might like:

A nephew (with a White dad) was driving on a SoCal freeway and pulled some stupid lane change right in front of a cop. The cop pulled him over and was talking to him about what he did.

My nephew replied something to the effect that it did not matter, so give me my ticket and let me go.

The cop asked "Is your dad White?"

Nephew: Yes.

Cop: Don't let your dad's stupidity get you killed. Ask your mom to explain this to you.

The cop let him go. His mom was both grateful to the cop and angry at her son.

I guess the cop was trying to tell my nephew that (most) cops treat darker people differently, and _that_ is what #BlackLivesMatter is supposed to be about.

@lnxw37a2
Actually, * does * detract from more serious issues, and blacks actually are not shot disproportionately more than whites when you factor for how many blacks and whites actually interact with law enforcement.

I'll ask you this: how come nobody cares that a white guy was killed by officers after one put his knee on his neck and back for 13 minutes? Or the white people who are getting mauled by mobs every day for literally no reason? What about the police officers getting assassinated every day now? Or that 19 unarmed whites were killed last year by cops, compared to 9 unarmed blacks? 🤔

White supremacy? On my fedi? I don't think so Mr. @realcaseyrollins You're canceled!
Beautiful story @lnxw37a2 it touched me. Truly moving.

@Locksmith @admin @lnxw37a2 LOL I'm sorry man, I'm a free thinker, I don't toe the political line just because Massa Democrat says so. It may be odd to see a black man defending the rights of whites, but that's just because I think their lives matter as much as the lives of black people like me. We should not be treated different or special because of our skin color.

But of course, that is counter-cultural and white supremacist talk. So be it. If striving to achieve 's dream leads me to being painted as a white supremacist, I don't care. In fact, that might be a badge of honor.

P.S. I'm guessing you're being tongue in cheek, but still, this is something that I've been called which is why I'm addressing it in this way.

@realcaseyrollins @lnxw37a2 @admin people call you that and they are being serious? people call anyone that seriously?

@Locksmith @admin @lnxw37a2 I think one or two have during my time on the fedi. I've certainly been called alt-right.

@realcaseyrollins @lnxw37a2 @admin calling someone alt-right isn't quite the same as calling someone a BLACK white supremacist
@realcaseyrollins @Locksmith

> I don't toe the political line just because Massa Democrat says so.

I'm not a Democrat, nor am I a Republican. I don't think it was a good move for most Blacks to wed a party.

> It may be odd to see a black man defending the rights of whites, but that's just because I think their lives matter as much as the lives of black people like me. We should not be treated different or special because of our skin color.

In that part, you're preaching to the choir. I have criticized the leaders of Black orgs when they don't cry out when someone in another ethnic group is persecuted or attacked by Blacks. (Gotten lots of "Oreo" and similar replies, too.)

But we don't get to "not treated differently" by pretending it isn't happening. You have to acknowledge the behavior that you want to change, because those who are behaving that way often won't change without pressure.

@lnxw37a2 @Locksmith Yep. I mentioned a handful of solutions in an earlier reply toot, although I can't find it ATM.

> we don't get to "not treated differently" by pretending it isn't happening.

Ah, here lies another disconnect between us. I am not very prone to assume racism where it is not proven. Black people commit crimes at a higher rate than white people, correct? Perhaps that might explain why they interact with police officers more often.

No doubt racism against black people exists among the police forces across the nation, and it's probably not something white people have to worry about, but at the same time to blame the disproportionate amount of police interaction on racism is erroneous.

The important question here, then, probably should be does the police interact with black people because they are black, or because they have committed crimes? And in what ratio to each other?
