IDK, it depends. Cosplaying as a character is perfectly fine, but it's kinda weird to make up an animal character and genuinely identify with it as some people do. Some people even identify more with their character than they do with who they actually are!

@realcaseyrollins @Lainyboy most people i've asked about it use a fursona as a form of escapism from some aspect of themselves that they don't like. people who legitimately think furries are degenerate have probably only seen the zoophiles that go to the fandom and think they'll be accepted (they aren't accepted whatsoever by the large majority) and the ones that consider it a purely sexual fandom (it isn't), its really a huge stain on an otherwise really cool community that just likes animals
