An interesting thing about Soapbox FE is that it intentionally omits Like (& EmojiReact) user lists.
I think that was a good decision. Likes are subtle data that should not be taken too seriously. People Like a post for a variety of reasons. So I think the interface should not place undue emphasis on it. Although Likes are in the public record, and could be viewed by other frontends (not sure what I think about that yet).

@realcaseyrollins @mewmew Thing is, we could also give users the choice to see DMs. But collectively (for the most part) the Fediverse is playing fair in that regard.

@alex People forget. If it's part of the federated system AND HAS CONSEQUENCES it can't be hidden. The logical choice if you want to abolish gamification features is to disable the like function entirely.

I want Likes to be invisible in the UI, but somehow the users still understand that they're public record. Impossible design predicament. But that's what happens when you don't control the whole Fediverse.
